Class of 2021 Update 4/23/21

Dear DVHS Class of 2021 students, parents and guardians,

We are pleased to share some initial information about Da Vinci High School’s in-person graduation ceremony, which is scheduled for June 10th starting at 5:00 pm on our field at the Da Vinci High School Campus. All DJUSD graduations are being planned under the most current guidance from Yolo County Public Health and the California Department of Public Health.  This guidance may change and as we plan our ceremony so we will continue to update you with relevant details.

Caps and gowns were already distributed at the start of the year, prior to Senior Photos. Please make sure that your student is still in possession of their cap and gown as they will be required attire for students that attend graduation in-person. If for some reason, you did not receive your cap and gown, please contact Adela Johnson at [email protected].

The following are the specific details that we have established to this point:
  • The ceremony will be held outside on the Da Vinci Field at 1400 E. 8th Street beginning at 5 pm.
  • All participants and audience members are required to wear face coverings, practice physical/social distancing between household units, and sit in assigned seating areas.
  • All participants should self-screen for symptoms of COVID-19 and should not attend the event if they feel ill, have a cold, flu or any other COVID-19-related symptoms, or may have recently been exposed to someone with confirmed or suspected COVID-19.
  • Each graduating Da Vinci senior will receive four (4) tickets for members of their household. Information on obtaining tickets will be forthcoming.
  • Students will be seated together, but socially distanced, near the graduation stage and will have the opportunity to cross the stage after their ‘15 Seconds of Fame’ video is shown and a staff member has shared some comments about their time at Da Vinci. Students that do not attend in-person will be fully included with the exception of physically walking across the stage.
  • There will be specified entry and exit points, and uni-directional walkways where DVCA staff and parents will assist with ushering attendees to their specific seating area.
  • Household groups will have a clearly marked location on the field that will be physically/socially distanced. Attendees will need to bring their own seating such as lawn chairs, blankets or other items to view the ceremony comfortably, which typically is about three (3) hours in length.
  • Food and drink, with the exception of water, will not be allowed.
  • The current travel advisories for anyone traveling from out of state include a ten day quarantine.
  • The full ceremony will be streamed live over Vimeo and a recording will be made available for anyone unable to attend in-person.
  • The stage will be accompanied by two large video walls and four speaker stacks which should make the viewing experience enjoyable even though seating will be distanced from the stage.
Here are a few other notes about other end-of-year Da Vinci Senior items:
  • A Booster Parent Group has partnered with DVHS to plan a celebratory event specifically for the Da Vinci, Class of 2021. We will host an optional Drive Thru event on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 26th from 1:30 - 3:30. Students with last names A - L should arrive between 1:30 - 2:30. Students with last names M - Z should arrive between 2:30 - 3:30. Families members may be present in the vehicle to help celebrate. Vehicles should enter the staff parking lot on the west side of campus and will be directed by staff through the route. If you plan to walk through the event, please contact Adela Johnson [email protected]. DVJH and DVHS staff will be present to help celebrate the Da Vinci seniors.
  • Senior Sunday (an event planned in lieu of Grad Night) being planned by DJUSD parent volunteers for Sunday, June 6th. Questions regarding this event should be directed to [email protected].
  • An external group of parents have information about private, non-school sponsored events. To learn about these details please contact [email protected]
