  1. Can I, as a student, bring my own device (laptop)?
    1. Da Vinci Charter academy is pleased to offer the option of allowing students to bring personal laptops for use at the High School.  For students that do not wish to use this option, we can still issue a school owned laptop. All students must follow the policies set forth in the DJUSD RUA and the DVCA Addendum.
  2. What kind of computer does DV recommend?
    1. Type of computer comes down to what you will be using the computer for, and individual preference. Any computer at Da Vinci should have at the minimum:
      1. Processor: Intel Core i5 or i7 or AMD equivalent.
      2. Windows 10 or Mac OS (Linux OK if the student can manage it on their own)
      3. Wireless capability
      4. Display: 13” or larger.
      5. Memory: 4GB or higher (minimum)
      6. Hard Drive: 256GB SSD or higher.
      7. I/O ports: Two USB 3.0 ports.
      8. SD card slot if the student is interested in Photography
      9. Video out: HDMI or DisplayPort.
      10. If your laptop only has USB you should purchase appropriate dongles for your needs
      11. You should also have a removable USB drive for backing up documents and printing
  3. What are my DVCA accounts?
    1. Everyone at Da Vinci has several accounts associated with them. These are the Echo account, the Google account and at the High School the Adobe account.
    2. The DVCA Google Account is in the format of [email protected] and is managed by the DVCA IT department. The DVCA Google Account is also used to log into Echo and for High School students our Adobe Creative Cloud account.
    3. Please be aware that when the student leaves Da Vinci their DVCA Google account will be deleted. We recommend using Google Takeout to transfer files to a new account. We are unable to restore files or access once the account has been deleted.
  4. How do I sign into Echo for students?
    1. Students sign in here: https://davinci.echo-ntn.org/
    2. Use your DVCA Google account and password to sign into Echo.

  5. How do I print on campus?
    1. Head to the DVHS Presentation Room.
    2. Bring your documents on a USB Drive OR upload them to your Google Drive
    3. Use one of the two laptops near the printers to print your document.
      1. Do not unplug and plug in your own laptop, it will not print. 
    4. REMEMBER: Log out of your accounts on the public printing laptop
  6. How do I login to the Students WIFI on the High School campus?
    1. The Student WIFI network on the DVHS campus is a secure closed network. Every student is allowed ONE device on the network. This device is usually either the student’s school issued laptop or a personal device that is owned by the student’s family. Phones are not allowed on the WIFI. Even if you know the password, your device will not be able to join the network without being manually added to the DaVinci wireless network. We will require your personal MAC address to do this.
  7. What happens if my DVCA owned laptop was lost or stolen?
    1. If your DVCA issued laptop was lost or stolen please report this to DV IT as soon as possible.
    2. Students and their families sign the Davis Joint Unified School District 2019-2020 Student Acceptable Use of Technology Agreement and a DVCA Technology Contract Addendum. All families are encouraged to read and understand before signing.

  8. What happens if I break my school issued laptop?
    1. Students and families are responsible for the cost of repairs. An invoice will be created and sent out depending on the damage caused.
    2. Laptops should be treated with care and kept secure by:
      1. Using a laptop sleeve (cover)
      2. Not eating or drinking around the laptop
      3. Lock your locker or car (if in the car leave out of sight)
      4. Being mindful of how you place your backpack when setting it down (do not throw your backpack on the ground/desk)
  9. Can Da Vinci put any programs on my personal computer?
      1. Short answer; “No”.
      2. All DVCA students and staff have a Da Vinci Google account. Any additional software deployed to students are only provided on school issued laptops per our agreement with third party companies.
  10. How do I put a home printer on my laptop?
    1. Go to Start > Settings > Devices > Printers and Scanners.
    2. Select Add a printer or scanner. Wait for it to find nearby printers, then choose the one you want to use and select Add device.
  11. How do I print a color document? 
    1. DVHS does not support students printing color documents.
    2. You can print at Copy Land or Kinkos in Downtown Davis
  12. How do I get my personal computer on the network?
    1. NOTE: For security reasons, we must register your personal computer with our domain 
    2. Bring your computer to an IT Specialist in the presentation room during lunch
    3. We'll need your MAC Address which will allow you access to our network
  13. How do I get a website unblocked?
    1. When you encounter a blocked website that you want to be unblocked you can click on the “report an incorrect block” to contact DVHS Technology.
      1. You can also contact an IT specialist to request a website to be unblocked.
  14. How do I put third party software on my school laptop?
    1. Short and simple, YOU cannot. For security reasons, students cannot put any software on their computer without administration approval.
    2. To request to have software put on your laptop please bring your laptop to the DVHS Tech Department (presentation room)
  15. How do I check out student technology?
    1. To request equipment use the DVHS Tech Checkout Form
    2. After the form is sent, you will receive a slip in class telling you your equipment is ready.
    3. Check your email often as we may send you a message saying your items are currently checked out

    1. How do I request help with a parent Echo Observer account?
      1. Use THIS FORM to request a parent echo account.
      2. You can also use the form for other parent Echo account related questions.
    2. How do I use my Echo Observer account?
      1. All parents can have an Echo “Observer” account which allows them to observe their student’s work and progress. Please note that parents log into a different domain than students.

    2. How do I print to the Bizhub?
      1. Connect your laptop to the DAWN network
      2. Print to DVCA BizzHub in the Office
      3. If you do not have it added to your computer contact an IT Specialist.
    3. What are my work related accounts?
      1. Staff have two different accounts; DJUSD and DVCA
      2. Your DJUSD email is used for logging into “Q” and using DAWN to print on the network
      3. Your DVCA email is used for Google, Echo and Adobe.  
        • All DVCA Staff have access to the full suite of Adobe Creative Cloud
