AP Exam Registration Instructions and Policies
Registration:
AP test registration is a two-step process and BOTH steps must be completed to register for AP exams. Please review all cancellation and payment policies carefully.
- Enroll in all AP courses and exams in College Board’s MyAP system (AP Classroom): myap.collegeboard.org with the join code(s) provided by your AP teacher(s) or the Testing Coordinator. **Please note: Students indicate YES or NO for the AP exam when signing up in any AP Classroom section.
- Complete the registration and payment process via the Total Registration website: www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/051082
When registering, please use a student email address that is checked regularly; important AP test information, reminders, and instructions will be communicated only via the email address(es) provided. Best practice is to use an email other than a DJUSD student account so College Board can contact a student with score information or after graduation. When prompted, adding a parent email on Total Registration is recommended in order to receive important AP test registration information.
The AP exam fee is $110 per exam*. There is no cost to enroll and use AP Classroom resources. Registration in Total Registration is not necessary if a student is enrolled in an AP class but does not plan to take the corresponding exam.
Exam Only: DJUSD students interested in registering for an Exam Only AP exam for (1) a course that is not offered at DVHS or (2) a subject where the student is not currently enrolled in the corresponding AP course, must contact the Testing Coordinator, Erika Strand at [email protected]. When completing Step 2 in the registration instructions above, students registering for an Exam-Only test will automatically be added to a waitlist just short of completing payment. Upon approval from the Testing Coordinator, registrants will receive an email from Total Registration prompting a return to the Total Registration website to complete payment.
Please note: For any exams that are taken as Exam Only, the College Board reserves access to AP Classroom resources only for students that are enrolled in an AP-approved course.
Important Dates and Deadlines:
- AP exam registration opens September 22, 2026.
- AP exams sales will end on November 6, 2026.
- AP exams cancelled after November 6, 2026 will incur a late fee of $42 per exam.
- No refunds will be given after March 5, 2027.
Additional Information:
Refund policy: Students in yearlong courses can receive a full refund prior to November 6, 2026. Students can receive partial refunds up until March 5, 2027.
*Free/Reduced Lunch Program: Students who qualify for Free/Reduced Lunch are able to claim a fee waiver for AP tests resulting in a fee of $60 per exam. Please indicate on the Total Registration website if (1) the student qualifies for the Federal Free/Reduced Lunch Program and (2) the parent/guardian has submitted the annual application with DJUSD Student Nutrition Services. Students who indicate Free/Reduced Lunch eligibility will have their registration automatically placed on hold until verification is complete. Students requesting financial assistance for AP exam fees (outside of the Free/Reduced Lunch program) should contact their Vice Principal and/or school counselor.
Students with Accommodations: Please note that College Board does not honor school-based accommodations for any of the College Board administered exams (AP/SAT/PSAT). To submit a request for testing accommodations for AP exams, please contact Ms. Strand. The College Board application deadline to ensure a decision by AP testing is January 22, 2027.
